About the Author
Debbie Hetmanek is a passionate golfer, a proud Virginia Tech Hokie, and an enthusiastic traveler to Italy. When with a grandchild, she never passes a carousel without enjoying a ride. Debbie lives with her husband in Vienna, Virginia. She adores her grandchildren who call her Lolly, and happily they live nearby.
Debbie is honored to share her first children’s book, Lolly’s Golf Adventure. For years, she had been taking golf pictures on family vacations and at putt putt courses. Her first grandson, Frankie, was born in 2020 during the COVID Pandemic. Debbie was thrilled to introduce Frankie to golf. One weekend when he was just 15 months old, she handed him toy plastic clubs and said, “Two hands, two hands” over one hundred times. By the end of the weekend, Frankie started to get the hang of it. At age two, he was swinging the driver, chipper and putter. In 2022, Debbie’s daughter suggested,“Mom, you should write a kid’s golf book”. That sounded like a great idea to Debbie; thus, the adventure began. The illustrations in the book were inspired by Debbie’s golf pictures of Frankie and her family. Buster, a star in the book, is a statue that sits in the front yard. Debbie hopes children will enjoy finding Buster, always try their best, and be kind to others.
